In THE MOVIES THAT CHANGED US: Reflections on the Screen (Atria Books), film historian Nick Clooney explores a representative series of brilliant films that altered our perceptions about race, religion, sex, politics, women, and even our definition of humanity – from the ambitiously epic, though inherently racist credo of Birth of a Nation, to the mythic idealism and stunning visual impact of Star Wars. The book won rave reviews in USAToday, Kirkus Reviews, Library Journal, and Publishers Weekly, and was featured on CNN, MSNBC, and NBC’s The Today Show.
A television newsman and onetime host of American Movie Classics, Clooney has received four Emmy nominations. He resides in Kentucky with his wife, Nina, and writes a regular column for the Cincinnati Post, as well as hosts segments on the ReelzChannel entertainment news program, “Dailies.” He and Nina travel extensively, and Nick often lectures on the topic of Darfur and his 2006 trip to refugee camps in that region.

As bestselling novelist David Morrell wrote: “If you liked The Da Vinci Code, you’ll love The Intelligencer.” And so this international bestseller grows ever more popular as it is passed on from reader to reader. Author Leslie Silbert was just a twenty-five year old private investigator working in Manhattan at one of the world's top firms when W magazine approached her for an article on female investigators. A Harvard Masters graduate who studied Renaissance Literature at Oxford, she was then in the employ of a former CIA director. Her first novel, THE INTELLIGENCER (Atria Books), was hailed as an expertly-crafted mystery that entwines two stories into one spellbinding narrative – one set in the underworld of sixteenth century espionage, the other in contemporary times.
Silbert is now at work on her second novel, KILLING CARAVAGGIO, and rights for her novels have been sold to: AB OVO (Hungary), Amber (Poland), AST (Russia), Bertelsmann (Germany), City Editions (France), Edicoes Fio da Navalha (Portugal), De Bezige Bij (Holland), Laguna Books (Serbia), Minoas (Greece), Mozaik (Croatia), Salamandra (Spain), Sonzogno (Italy).
